It offers a variety of terrain – rugged mountain trails, long sandy beaches and fuchsia-lined back roads with a scenic surprise around every corner. Walking
There are routes for all ages and abilities in the hills of Iveragh and Corca Dhuibhne which leave a lasting impression on the visitor. The Iveragh Peninsula contains a long distance walking route called The Kerry Way, which encompasses the Ring of Kerry. The Dingle Peninsula has one of the most outstanding long distance walks in Ireland called the Dingle Way/Slí Chorca Dhuibhne, which weaves itself for over 100 miles along the Peninsula. Sections of both Way Marked Ways pass through the Gaeltacht area.

Kerry offers the golfer a great variety which includes six championship links and courses as well as many other 9-hole and 18-hole local golf clubs where visitors are welcome. This area offers a holiday combining the excitement of truly magnificent golf with some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery in Europe. Waterville Golf Club borders the Gaeltacht on the Iveragh Peninsula while Ceann Sibéal Golf Links is located in the Dingle Peninsula Gaeltacht.
Watersports
Encircled in the sweep of Ireland’s highest mountain ranges –Brandon to the north, the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks to the south and east – Derrynane offers a sheltered bay in which to enjoy the sea. Because Ireland enjoys a mild and temperate climate, with extreme weather conditions a rarity, many watersports can be enjoyed all year round. You are always near a river/lake or the sea in this area. Anyone interested in water sports will be well catered for with tuition available in some areas.
